We helped Chantelle and Daniel (Kathryn’s sister and brother-in-law) move on Saturday. It was a pretty good move, as moves go. Pretty well everything was packed up already, and most things were labelled with post-it notes to tell us where it was going. Some was going to storage, the rest was going to Jeanette’s, where Chantelle and Daniel are living at the moment. So we had two trailers and two teams of people, one for each target location. It went really smoothly, and was all over in a few hours.
I’m not a big fan of moving, though. I think it’s the packing that gets me. It especially annoys me if I go to help someone else move, but nothing is packed up when we get there. I had a few horror stories like that when I was a missionary for the church, in Switzerland and Germany. Had some really good ones too.
We’ll be moving soon, though. For those who don’t know, my parents have been asked to run our church’s Temple here in Adelaide for the next 3 years. It’s the big granite/marble building on Lower Portrush road. Like all positions in the church, it’s a volunteer thing. But it’ll be full on, full time, so dad is retiring from dentistry and selling his practice. But, they do get to live in a house just behind the temple for the next three years. Which means we get to move into their house.
Fortunately, we don’t have too much stuff, so it should be a pretty easy move. Except that we’re upstairs here. And it’ll certainly be lovely to have some more space. Kathryn had just started teaching from there too, so that will be really convenient for her. We kind of feel bad at the moment, since that is dominating their front lounge room for now. But soon it will be our front lounge room, and renamed the music room!
Soon everything will be ours.

So, now that we have a blog, we decided to get our own domain (web address). We just happened to head over to netregistry.com.au last night, and see that they were having a sale on. So we bought http://howesthat.net.au for $27 (normally $45). By the time we had finished the transaction, the sale was over (it lasted for 2 hours) so we were happy that we bought it when we did.
This morning I had some fun trying to do anything useful for it. I hadn’t really thought it through properly. Just to get somethign working, I signed up for some free hosting and put a simple php redirect script up. So, now you should be able to get to our blog using our domain, http://howesthat.net.au!
Uni results just came in, and I got 2 HDs, a C and a P. I’m fairly happy with that. Could have been better, could have been a lot worse.
And we just got Mario Kart Wii, so don’t expect to see us for the next few days…

So, it’s been a while since we last updated our blog and a lot has happened since then, so we’re not going to try and catch you up on it all. We have both turned a year older and had fairly quiet and mostly relaxing birthdays, although that was almost 2 months ago. About one month ago Dallin received a new calling into the Elders Quorum presidency and was released from Young Mens, which was surprising but also exciting.
More recently, Dallin finished his mid-year exams just over a week ago and we are waiting on the results, but he is confident that he did well in (or has at least passed) all his subjects. With only one year of his degree left we are looking forward to him finishing and being able to work.
The music school Kathryn has been working at for the past year closed at the end of last week. Our last week of lessons was followed by a good bye concert on 5 July. The closing of the school has been sad but also provided Kathryn with a wonderful opportunity to start her own business teaching piano. Almost all of the students that were at the school have moved with Kathryn which has been a great blessing as her workload will only increase slightly but it will result in a payrise! She starts teaching as of July 21 and is a little nervous but still quite excited.
We also just had a trip to Sydney to spend a few days with Callie, Luke and their families. We had a great time although Blaise and Lady were unwell for a bit of the time we were there. We were only there for a few days and as always, the time went too quickly and we wish we could have stayed for another week! We took the opportunity to go the Sydney Temple which for Kathryn was the first time she had done a full session in a temple other than Adelaide. The temple is such a beautiful place and we just love being there!
Love Kathryn & Dallin
